Yangyang was born in China but came to England at 15 as the sole recipient in China of the William SD Louey educational foundation full scholarship. She studied BA, M.Eng at University of Cambridge and after a successful career as a stock trader, she is currently a freelance artist working in London. She took Chinese calligraphy apprenticeship in Beijing from Master Guo Jinming since age of 4 for more than 10 years and has won varies awards in Chinese calligraphy including many Gold Medals in National Competition. Her work was made inscription by Pu Jie (brother of the last emperor), Chi Haotian (Minister of Defence) and many more. Such solid training since youth greatly informs her drawing skills, aesthetic awareness and deep understanding of Chinese philosophy. She has been tutored in London for three years by members of Royal Society of Portrait Painters to focus her practice on portraiture, the most difficult genre in painting, which she has been private commissioned several times. She is also a keen musician with many instruments of interest, currently pursuing grade 8 in piano as well as the third year of in-depth studies in classical music composition. She is currently exploring other areas of interest such as projects based on poetry, history and eastern philosophy. Now as a mother of a 4 year old, she is launching a series of tailored classes for adults and children after her own experience with teaching them.
